In a major victory for the award-winning singer, Adele will not have to pay child support to her now ex-husband Simon Konecki, however, they will share custody of their 8-year-old son, according to divorce documents obtained on Wednesday. March 10 by the AP.
TMZ reported that the singer and her ex will have joint legal and physical custody of their 8-year-old son, Angelo, and the ruling says neither party will pay spousal support.
The majority of the divorce settlement is confidential, so it’s unclear whether Adele made any other kind of payment to her ex-husband, Simon Konecki. The judgment also states that further details on child support are set out in a separate judgment which is not publicly filed, as noted by TMZ.
The British singer confirmed her marriage to Konecki, co-founder of eco-friendly bottled water brand Life Water, during her acceptance speech at the 59th Grammy Awards for Album of the Year in 2017. The couple has begun their relationship in mid-2011, however, the couple separated in August 2019 and Adele filed for divorce the following month.
The divorce process took two years due to the high sums of money involved – more from her side – however, when their divorce was announced, Adele’s representatives said the couple were “determined to raise their son together with love. “
